The head of state stated that there are dialogue tables in their states with the Governor's Office and the Ministry of Public Education. 'In the past, they didn't even have that,' she declared during her usual press conference, where she explained that 'there are issues that the public budget cannot cover.' 'The dialogue is open,' she stated. In this regard, she mentioned that there are dialogue tables with the Secretariat of the Interior and the Secretariat of Education, for which she criticized the use of force: 'Why are they blocking the streets?' We are looking for the best way to support because we believe in the teachers,' added the head of state, who is thus suffering a second sit-in by the teaching staff after last year's protests. In this regard, Sheinbaum declared that the budget her administration allocates for education 'includes salaries, welfare programs that were increased last year, and a 10% increase for teachers' which also became effective in 2025. 'The dialogue is open,' she added in the face of the union's threats to boycott and hinder the Football World Cup if authorities do not reach an agreement in the coming days. 'The government of Oaxaca has given a lot of support to children and teachers,' she highlighted and detailed that the administration of Chiapas has done the same in recent times. 'If the dialogue table is open, why close the street?' she asked and recognized that 'there is a right to protest,' but demanded that they 'must be peaceful'. President Claudia Sheinbaum referred this Thursday to the sit-in that the National Coordinator of Education Workers (CNTE) began in the capital's Zócalo with new salary demands and the legal framework that regulates the ISSSTE.
